Do I Have Psychic Abilities? What it is (and isn’t)
Congratulations. Your Intuition brought you here.
When you think of psychics often images of blinking neon signs, crystal balls, velvet-clad dens in tiny back-alley offices may come to mind. Or perhaps you think of famous psychics in recent or ancient history. You may have visited a metaphysical shop, explored tarot and used crystals. Perhaps you played party games to test your ESP (extra sensory perception) trying to read the thoughts of friends or dabbled with an Ouija board to pass time.
Today the interest and use of psychics for general advice, insight and general entertainment are rapidly on the rise. All you need to do is look to the media and you will see several celebrity psychics and mediums who are featured on their own T.V. Shows have an extensive social media presence, published best selling books and tour across countries to sold-out venues. Today, celebrities openly talk about their psychic advisor alongside their personal assistants, doctor, mechanic, dog groomer, esthetician and hairdresser. In fact, it has been shown that psychics are now replacing life coaches in the area of personal development.
The word “psychic” is derived from the Greek word psychikos (“of the mind” or “mental”), and refers in part to the human mind or psyche. The Greek word also means “soul”. In Greek mythology, the maiden Psyche was the deification of the human soul. The word derivation of the Latin psȳchē is from the Greek psȳchḗ, literally “breath”, a derivative of psȳ́chein, to breathe or to blow (hence, to live). (Merriam Websters)
People are often drawn to psychic readings because they have a question as to whether they are psychic. Many people seek to learn more about psychic abilities and phenomena. It could be due to life experiences that cannot be rationally explained or a deep curiosity and questions about what lies beyond what is physically observable in the world.
There are also those that consider themselves “natural born” psychics, where they come into awareness of their “gifts” early on. They may have a family that understood and validated experiences. Dramatic life events, such as a near-death experience or the death of a loved one are often precursors that jumpstart this awareness. Many experience a general intuition that enables a sense of knowing about people and situations.
So are you psychic? The short answer is… Yes, everyone is psychic. We all possess these tendencies. Many even consider it to be an innate human capability. However, going from physical cues and intuitions to the point of reading requires refinement and skills that may be obtained through the development of psychic tools.
It is certainly validating, fun and insightful to have a psychic reading. In truth, you already possess the ability to see for yourself, work from your own knowing and find answers. After all, your intuition brought you here.
