The Psychic Toolbox; The Grounding Cord
“Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground.” – Theodore Roosevelt
During times of uncertainty and life transitions, the intensity of energies it is easy to lose your footing and feel disconnected to the earth. There are tools that may help you feel a greater sense of stability when your life may feel a loss of control. A grounding cord is one way to hold and claim space for yourself as you bring yourself closer to your center. Grounding cords are one of the tools in the psychic toolbox that was created by the late Lewis. S. Botswick who founded the Berkley Psychic Institute in 1973.
With the intensity of energy and emotions in fast-moving events, it is easy to get swept up, feel a sense of insecurity, and unable to distinguish what is your energy and what belongs to an outside (or foreign) source. This outside energy is sometimes called ‘foreign energy’. In order to clear your space, and be more effective in your daily life, grounding is a very helpful tool. Grounding is also integral to creating boundaries that prevent the negative energies of other people and events from permeating your space.
What is Grounding?
When we feel anxious, stressed, depressed, or a sense that our bodies don’t feel familiar, it may be an indication that you need to ground and release energy to the earth. Grounding is when you visualize your connection to the earth and release excess or foreign energy Grounding allows you to clear your energetic space and gain a firmer hold of your surroundings. It is meant to be exactly as the word suggests, a way to deeply connect with the energies of the earth and create a sense of being firmly rooted in it.
Think of an electrical grounding cord grounds and how it is used to move and ground energy. An energetic grounding cord can be used in the same way. It can ground energy in a person, thing, or even a situation or event. Energetic grounding cords may be used to ground yourself, others, animals, homes, workspaces, your vehicle, and even your personal technology.
One of the most simple ways to ground is to visualize a cord out in front of you, any image will do. It could be a thick golden chain, a golden cord of light, a rope, a tree, a mountain, or a waterfall. In fact, a grounding cord can be anything you wish that has meaning to you and creates a sense of being connected to the earth. It is also fun to play with a grounding cord by visualizing something amusing.
You may ground the body using a grounding cord. When your energy or someone else’s energy needs to be cleared out, grounding is a way to feel more firmly rooted in the earth and centered in your own awareness and energetic spaces.

A Psychic Perspective
Grounding is one of the most fundamental tools in The Psychic Toolbox. It allows you to release other foreign energy and pictures out of your space and is a first step in creating greater awareness in the body and prepare to read. Grounding is also very practical in that it can create a swift and immediate effect on your body, environments, events, and how others are responding to you. As simple as it is, it is profound in that you are able to claim space and stand in your own power, regardless of what is around you from moment to moment.
