Spirit Guides and Angel Connections
>Like Spiritual “Google” for your Soul
Have you ever felt a sense that you are being watched over by an unseen force or presence? Have there been times in your life where you were put in a potentially dangerous or compromising position and felt that there was someone or something looking out for you? Have you heard a voice that is not your own giving you reassurance, support, and guidance when you needed it most? You may have encountered your personal guides or connected with an angel.
In neo-spiritual and new age circles, it is trendy to talk about spirit guides in the same way one would talk about a financial advisor, mentor or therapist. There are a plethora of quick checklists and how-to videos online that discuss how to tap into guides. Guides are like spiritual Google that many go to at every turning point before they make a decision. Sometimes these connections create dependency and do not allow the individual to see for themselves.
Guides are spirits that are not in bodies that are put in your life to support you in your spiritual journey. They can be used to facilitate your healing and spiritual growth. They help you find answers and decisions at important junctures in your life. Guides have been known to intervene during an accident or some sudden potentially perilous event to create a protective space. Guides can be loving and wise, giving you encouragement and inspiration at key moments in your life.
Angels are also present in our lives in many ways. Angels are supernatural and have been found in many myths and world religions throughout human history. Religions depict angels as the bridge between God and human beings. Angels are organized in angelic realms and in general, they are not incarnated into a body. They are sent to give wisdom, guidance, protection and unconditional love.
Archangels, their names, and abilities vary according to spiritual or religious traditions. ‘Arch’ derives from Greek meaning ruling or chief. There are many examples, some are Michael (The warrior Angel), Raphael (Angel of healing), Gabriel (The messenger angel), Uriel (The Angel of wisdom and illumination), Jophiel (The Angel of beauty), Ariel (The angel of nature and animals), Azrael (Angel of Death), and Chamuel (The angel of peaceful relationships). These angels govern different areas of life and are called upon for various reasons or a focus on meditative and spiritual practices.
Guardian Angels are assigned to you to help you with a specific area of your life or during challenging or dangerous times. They may be with you for a certain length of time and leave when the lesson or situation has resolved itself.
It can be comforting to know that you have spirit guides and angels around you to witness and support you in your growth. They offer insight and information on how to walk through life with wisdom. You may have a dialogue with your guides and angels or tap into them to heal yourself and others. Angels appear in our lives for many reasons and may offer support in a multitude of ways. People who have experienced Near-Death Experiences (NDE’s) often recount seeing angels at the final hours of their life.
Supernatural entities such as Spirit guides and angels are not intended as a replacement for your own answers, truth, knowledge and inner vision. Their presence and opinions do not have dominion over you. You are always senior as you have a body and are on earth to experience life. When kept in balance, guides and angels can provide another layer of awareness and enrich your spiritual life.
It is always helpful to take a look at your connection and dependence on a particular guide as to whether their intentions are from a place of love and integrity. Notice if you are constantly checking in with your guides and angels before taking any steps in your life, like using a spiritual Google. You may want to reflect on why you depend on them to make decisions. If guides start to take over or not respect your space and agreements, or you let them channel through you without your permission, it may be time to ask them to leave.
When developing clairvoyance and psychic abilities it is helpful to keep guides out of your space to see more clearly and refine your skills. This doesn’t mean that you need to reject them completely, rather call them in on your terms at a time that is right for you. You are always in control and have seniority as our spirits are embodied. Ultimately, we are our own angels as we have direct access to the supreme being. It is through this that we find our own answers.
Questions you may ask yourself when tapping into these beings are; Is it coming from a place of certainty? Am I relying on guides out of fear and insecurity that my own information is invalid or inaccurate? Do I allow beings to take over my personal space to read, heal and make daily decisions?
How to tap into your guides and Angel connections
- Meditate and get centered in your 6th chakra. You may use a guided meditation if this helps you connect.
- Set the intention to meet your guide and what type of connection you want to make.
- Get still and silent and listen for signs and messages.
- Pay attention to your dream space as it can provide cues and information.
- Check your connection- put up a truth/lie rose (more on this later) to see if the relationship is clear and well-intentioned. It is possible for beings to deceive or mask their real intentions but as always, you are senior to these energies.
