The Psychic Toolbox; The Rose
“What was said to the rose that made it open was said to me here in my chest.” – Excerpt from ‘What Was Said to the Rose’, Rumi
The rose is a psychic tool used to clear energy from your space and allow for greater freedom in the body. The symbol is used to gather up energies, from other people, environments, or even within you. As the rose clears out energy that is not you or ‘foreign energy’ it makes space for healing and clarity and allows you to define where you end and others begin. During times that are rapidly changing and unpredictable, with competing energies from various sources, it is an invaluable tool to maintain your space.
History and Symbolism of the Rose
The rose has been used as a symbol for thousands of years to represent the mystical experience and spiritual essence. Since ancient times, the rose has indicated the divine presence of God or source. It has been used by many spiritual practices and world religions spanning the world.
According to some, the shape of a rose reveals a sacred geometry of the unfurling petals, outlining the delicate yet intricate nature of the spiritual essence within all things. The planet Venus orbits in a rose pattern when traced. The fragrance is sometimes believed to represent the sweetness of the divine presence of love in our lives, which is in essence, the god within our hearts.
Ancient mythology incorporated roses as a symbol of divine love. Roses would appear in stories to represent the communication between gods and humanity. Pagans use roses that are considered a symbol of the heart.
In the Islamic faith, it is considered as a symbol of the human soul, so that when one smells a rose they are reminded of their spirit. The Sufis consider the rose to be sacred and the inspiration for expressing the diving through geometrical gardens, poetry, song, and art. In fact, the rose symbolism may be found in poetry and musings spanning Judaism, Islam, and esoteric Christianity.
In the spiritual world, there are individuals that recount the fragrance of a rose when communicating with angels. In Christianity, the ‘mystic rose’ is a symbol associated with Mary. Catholics have called its fragrance the “odor of sanctity”. The Rosicrucian order views the rose as a symbol of spiritual consciousness.
The Rose as a Psychic Tool
In psychic terms, the rose is a tool used during meditation to release energies and create space to see clearly during readings and healings. The rose symbol is part of the psychic toolbox that was created by Lewis Bostwick, who drew from multiple traditions around the world, creating a system to develop psychic awareness.
The idea is simple but yields profound results on an energetic level. When meditating it is possible to visualize a rose of any shape, color, and size, and watch it act as a magnet for energies that need to go. Once it has filled up you throw it out of your energetic field and blow it up.
Foreign energy is basically anything that is not distinctly ‘you’. That may include other people’s judgments, expectations, emotions, mockups (manifestation goals), and pictures (their own information and experiences). It may also include energy from the environment you live in or situations that surround you. Whatever it is, it is actually not necessary to know all the details as clearing it out through regular meditation and ‘running’ your psychic tools will do the job.
It is also possible that your own energy needs to be cleared in order to fine-tune your vision and take growth steps. When you ‘blow roses’ in a regular, repetitive way, you may actually feel a difference in your space, clarity, less energetic ‘noise’, the removal of other people’s energy, and a heightened sense of awareness.
