Intuition, Empaths, and Psychic Development
Intuition
Intuition is when a person feels for what is right. Sometimes called a ‘gut feeling’ or felt sense, it is described as an instinct, or knowledge that is innate. Intuition is not logical or necessarily a conscious awareness, rather wisdom that is deep-seated. It is usually felt in the body and emotions, in particular the 2nd chakra region.
While intuition may run strong, it is not always accurate, as it may be subject to subconscious patterning, and personal belief systems. Being intuitive does not automatically mean that you have psychic awareness, as often this requires psychic tools and practice to manage energies and develop skills to see through a clear, unbiased lens.
Some Signs you are Intuitive
- You feel what others feel (empathy)
- You sense the emotions of others
- You experience vivid dreams
- You possess self-awareness
- You get a ‘gut feeling’ about situations and people
Empaths
Empaths are people who may pick up on the emotional state of others, feeling what they are feeling and experiencing from that perspective. It may be as if you feel what it is like to be in their shoes. While being empathic is a wonderful way to connect to others on an interpersonal level, it is often fraught with many challenges as emotions and sensations may overwhelm, making it hard to effectively manage people and situations.
Some Signs you are an Empath

- You feel the emotions and body sensations of others, sometimes to the point that you take on others feelings

- You have a deep connection to nature
- You need time to be in silence or away from people to recharge
- You sometimes feel depleted by people, crowds, and events
Psychics
Psychic Development may incorporate elements of intuition and empathic abilities, however, it is from a state of neutrality. Neutrality may be cultivated through regular practices such as meditation or using psychic tools for development. More specifically, psychic development is when a person develops their ability to read, see, hear, and feel energy.
Psychic awareness may be experienced in many ways, and each is unique to the individual. Some may be more clairvoyant (seeing), while others may be claircognizant (knowing). A person may start out with a strong intuitive or empathic sense, which they later develop into a more refined psychic awareness. Everyone is psychic, however, what differentiates the experience is being able to manage energies and work from a neutral, protected, empowered place. This may be developed through mentorship or training.

- You are empathic
- You sense energies in different ways (Clairvoyance, Claircognizance, Clairaudience etc.,)
- You may see things before they happen (precognition)

- You have dreams that are more prophetic in nature
Develop Psychic Awareness
The difference between intuition, empathic and psychic awareness is largely related to the use of tools. When using tools to develop psychic awareness, such as clairvoyance, a person is learning to access and read energies from a neutral space, and with clarity.
There are many ways to develop psychic awareness and each person will find what resonates with them. Many individuals are born with natural psychic abilities, perhaps passed down through generations or the result of a sudden or traumatic event. Others may actively seek to cultivate their awareness through various systems, mentorship, schools, development circles, meditation, and the use of tools.
There is no one size fits all approach, and where and how you access and develop your abilities is your personal choice.
Pitfalls of Psychic Development
If a person develops this sense without clearing their patterns, filters, judgments, and expectations, it may lead to a less clear read of energies. Tapping into energies without tools to ground, clear out, create separation, and neutrality, may also make the experience uncomfortable and even cause physical and psychological symptoms.
Psychic abilities may be natural and self-taught, but it is very helpful to be surrounded by others that may support you on your journey and a safe and controlled environment for learn and work with energies. A quality program that nurtures spiritual sovereignty, psychic development, in a supportive community, may create a more stable environment through which to safely explore and play with tools. It is an ideal outlet to learn and grow as a psychic.
A Psychic Perspective
It is seductive to immerse yourself in developing awareness, whether intuition, empathic or psychic and see life only on these terms. However, it is also important to stay grounded in the reality of daily life. Sometimes the work is used as a tool to escape and avoid one’s reality in the world, excuse inaction and justify behaviors.
When used in a responsible and balanced manner, psychic awareness provides is a way to heal, and grow, creating a life you desire from an empowered and centred space. This is beneficial to personal relationships, work, projects, creativity, health, and the overall wellbeing of the planet. In fact, there are many practical applications for being psychic.
