Teleportation; More Fax Machine Than Time Machine
Is it possible to be here and there? Beam me up!
Teleportation is the ability to move an object from one location to another. It also defines the ability to move instantaneously from one location to another without physically occupying the time and space in between. When you think of teleportation, what automatically comes to mind is some Star trek-ian scene of a Spock and Captain Kirk dematerializing in one place and re-materializing in another. Another is the possibility of time travel, and how it has been shown in film, television and comic books via a Delorean, Tardis, portals or wormholes. For a long time, quantum mechanics postulated that teleportation would cause errors in copying the original and therefore completely destroy it. Is Teleportation more of a fax machine than a time machine?
Quantum Entanglement and Teleportation
The basic notion of Quantum Entanglement, or what Albert Einstein called ‘spooky action at a distance’, suggests that things at a distance know a lot more about each other than we realize. So particles in one location to reconstruct themselves at another location with relative ease. For 20 years, scientists have taken photons (particles of light) and atoms (like cesium and rubidium) and teleported them from one location to another in experimental settings. Scientists are now working to teleport on a molecular level using water or carbon dioxide. More recently, Chinese scientists successfully teleported a photon from Earth to space, which was well documented in 2017.
From a scientific perspective, teleporting a human might be difficult. In the process, the person would have to be destroyed on an atomic level and a copy made at the desired location. The human at the other side would be more of a facsimile than the original, as the atoms had to break apart. Questions of “where does the soul go?” and if it is possible to reconstitute the essence of a person beyond physical matter, remains a mystery. To date, teleportation, at least from the scientific perspective is a long way off.
The Gifted Children
In 1981, Chinese scientists worked with ‘gifted children’ and observed them teleporting small objects from one place to the other. This included watches, insects, photosensitive paper and radio micro-transmitters. Participants touched the objects beforehand. The experiments were conducted under blind and double-blind conditions and were of particular interest to universities and the military. The US Air Force and Federation of American Scientists followed the work. The results were so significant that the US felt the findings worthy of being declassified. Eric Davis, Ph.D., FBIS noted;
“The results of the Chinese Teleportation Experiments can simply be explained as a human consciousness phenomenon that somehow acts to move or rotate test specimens through a 4th spacial dimension so that specimens are able to penetrate the solid walls/barriers of their containers without physically breaching them.” – Eric Davis, Ph.D, FBIS (source)
Psychic View of Teleportation
It is believed that one can train the mind to teleport via several methods. Focused meditation, lucid dreaming, astral projection, and bilocation are a few ways to cultivate this ability. It requires a significant amount of time and training and sometimes the use of technology. Internal methods require significant spiritual or esoteric development.
Bilocation
Bilocation is the ability to be psychically aware of two or more places at once. Remote viewing and out of body experiences can be seen as a form of bilocation. You can sense or see objects, locations or dimensions beyond your current place and time but you are still physically aware of your body. Bilocation is also called dimension-shifting. True bilocation is when consciousness, astral body, etheric body, and physical body are in two places at once. It often requires years of training, however, some are born with this natural ability. There are stories of mystics and saints that could bilocate as evidence of a divine miracle.
Can We Teleport?
Although there is not a lot of proof that individuals can teleport, there are stories and first-hand eye-witness accounts of seeing objects and people seemingly appear and disappear out of nowhere. Generally, at this point in human awareness, unless you have a capacitor, worm-hole, access to photons from a distant star, and insight into the finer mysteries of entanglement, the likelihood of complete teleportation with the essence of ‘you’ intact is slim.
