Angels, Spirit Guides, and Psychic Awareness
“Where on earth a light shines into a dark place, there will an angel be.” – Unknown
Angels are supernatural beings that appear in many religions and spiritual practices. Angels are to be what lies between humanity and God. They take on many roles, including watching over people, events, heal, protect, witness, and deliver messages. They are depicted in art, movies, and literature.
Some traditions speak of a hierarchy in the angelic realms and among beings. Archangels are considered higher-order and are not actual beings but energies representing a particular human archetype. These energies are present on earth to be invoked and channeled. Angels are also referred to as light or dark. There is a truth that lies beyond this duality.
Many believe that you are assigned an angel at birth. Some individuals believe that they are earth angels that have reincarnated and returned in human form in this lifetime.
Spirit Guides
Spirit guides deliver messages and information to an individual. They may come in the form of an ascended master, an ancestral spirit, common spirit guide, teacher, or animal spirit guide. Spirit guides may be sensed as an inner voice, a force that protects you during critical moments in your life. They may also support you during challenging times or when making difficult decisions. Spirit guides may appear to you in your dream space.
Light Angels
A true angel may appear in a shape and form similar to humans, as angels have taken the human condition before. They may also appear as balls or streaks of light or something else. An angel of light is said to have pure intentions, and their existence on earth supports human beings.
Dark Angels
There are many descriptions of dark angels, which are considered different from fallen angels. Dark angels do not always have the best intentions; however, some disagree and see them as soldiers of God who have come to do battle against evil on earth.
There are biblical references to Satan masquerading as an angel of light. Sometimes beings may not have the best intentions and present as helpful when it is not the case. At any time, you may check in with the source (or the higher self, supreme being, or God) to see if the connection is genuine.
A word of caution is that there can be a trickster element when working with or attempting to channel these beings and energies. It may be tempting to get lost in the messages and symbolism and place your power outside yourself.
Archangels
Archangels come from Greek, meaning “chief angel” are considered the guardians that oversee everything in humanity and earth, including cities, nations, and continents. They are said to be created by God and manage lesser angels. Archangels appear as streaks or beams of light. Archangels referenced in the bible include Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, among others. They are also see seen as soldiers of God in a spiritual battle.

A Psychic Perspective
When connecting to information from a spirit guide, staying centered in your truth is essential. Always use discernment when listening for these signs and messages. Stand firmly in your power and use your own clairvoyance and knowing. As with any being without a body, you have seniority and may control the interaction.
Angels operate on a higher or alternate frequency that may be used for healing. They are capable of great healing and miracles, but it is critical to use your discernment like any practice. Whenever engaging with these beings and energies, ask yourself: am I in control? May I turn it on or off? How do I feel when I engage with these beings? May I call upon them and detach from them at my will? Do I still see myself in this work, or do I lose myself in the symbolism and mystery of external energies?
When embarking on a spiritual, psychic, or healing development journey, it is tempting to place all your trust in something outside of yourself. It can be alluring to use guides to gain information, power, to channel and connect when you have not cultivated your certainty. Beings may appear in a brilliant form, and offer relief and information in exchange for giving up your power. However, Angels and guides are not meant to replace your knowledge. Ideally, developing your skills and releasing and healing before you rely on an angel or guide allows you to distinguish clearly between what is you and what is outside of you.
